RICOVR is a new startup from the US that has patented the first truly portable nanoparticle detection technology, allowing for fast, non-invasive specimen collection and analytics with broad applications from THC detection to COVID-19. Company’s patented biosensor technology uses a small drop of saliva to provide high-quality results in under 5 minutes.
When RICOVR approached the Whynot team, the requests were mainly 2:
– Define a simple, fast and effective saliva collection system suitable for everyone
– Create a device capable of collecting this saliva and analyzing it in a short time.
Thanks to the study of countless usage scenarios and usage workflows, Whynot designers have identified the best solution to respect all constraints and make the user experience simple and immediate.
The system created includes a disposable kit for the collection of saliva and a small portable device able to collect the saliva and analyze it in a few minutes.
The name of the device is XALIVA and was designed solely to ensure maximum functionality both when challenged and placed on a desk. The disposable kit and the device communicate with each other chromatically in order to guide the user to the correct use of the instrument.
XALIVA was born with the aim of testing the level of cannabinoids in the workplace but immediately with the appearance of COVID-19, the potential of the technology for this new emergency is clear.
Presented as a concept at the beginning of summer 2020, the device is currently under development with the aim of entering production within the year.
