The collaboration between Gemm and Whynot encompassed multiple design aspects, from developing a new, adaptable user interface for the entire product range to defining the product design of each machine.
Product Design
The products were designed with a focus on simplicity and rigor, communicating durability and high performance without compromise. Whynot developed two distinct design languages to cater to different price ranges. Particular attention was given to details, such as the grid pattern, which was inspired by the Gemm logo.
Each element’s placement was precisely guided by a pursuit of balance, order, and proportion, resulting in timeless designs that stand the test of time.
User Interface
A unified interface design was created for all products (blast chillers, multifunction cabinets, and proofing-retarding cabinets), adaptable to both portrait and landscape orientations. The use of a black background allowed the seamless integration of the 7-inch display behind slightly smoked glass, achieving a sleek, fully merged effect. The main screens feature layouts composed of colorful geometric elements that change in shape and color depending on the machine’s menu, providing a eye-catching and intuitive user experience.
