Arga – swirling bathtub

Designing Arga swirling bathtub did mean creating a new user experience. So we had to give substance to an ambitious and innovative thought.

The challenge was to integrate new features into a pure and essential aesthetic made of acrylic and not composite materials. Swirling, salt loading and diffusion, interface, lighting system were only few.

“We did not want to offer an alternative to traditional hydromassage. Firstly we wanted to offer an alternative to elegant and rational freestanding bathtubs. Secondly we aimed at offering something that would not compromise aesthetics”.

The softness of the shape allows to enhance the circular flow of the swirling that spreads from small light openings of the shell, gently wrapping the person. The interface is the face of the product, a backlit glass top that contrasts with the matte shell, so emphasizing the technological value of Arga. The will was to create a control panel that dialogs in a balanced way with the design of the shell and that amplify the user experience.

Every functional and aesthetic detail was the result of a team work between Jacuzzi and Whynot designers. The challenge of rethinking the bathroom experience was accepted. In conclusion, the result was above all expectations.
